A Call to Pastor

Pastor Jay graduated from the University of Washington back in 1993 with a degree in Speech Communications, then receiving his M.Div. through Western Seminary in 2001. For the past 35 years he has been a pastored churches on the west & eastern sides of the state of Washington. He currently serves in area of discipleship & part of the preaching team of Fourth Memorial Church in Spokane, Wa.

Uber-Pastor

In May of 2014, Jay experienced a health crisis while pastoring a church in Washington state. Out of necessity, Jay began driving for a ride-share company - Uber. A job he could do while sitting, and one that allowed flexibility when rest was needed. His car became a counseling office - a “church on wheels” going to the people where they work, live, and play. He found himself having daily conversations with people in a way, and at a pace, he had never experienced in the first 25 years of ministry.

Ordinary Evangelism

The question of God is something people think about. A lot.  People need to ask questions, express doubts, talk about disappointments & bad experiences with church, & almost always their problems with the notion of God - at least how He is described in the Bible. It is these conversations and the underlying need for the gospel that serve as the catalyst for forming Ordinary Evangelism as a 501(c)3 organization. Jay is both a trainer & practitioner in the areas of apologetics and evangelism. His stories will exhort you to greater courage in naming Jesus. His in-person training will better equip you to help others. He is a self-professing “ordinary for Jesus.” He believes you can be to.
